Oxford is well connected by road and rail networks, giving quick and direct access locally, nationally and from Europe.

Oxford is well connected to the capital, London, the M25 and the Midlands by the M40 motorway. Junctions 8 and 9 link all directly to the city. The ring roads of Oxford provide direct access to the south and west coast ports of Southampton, Portsmouth and Bristol via the A34.
Just an hour from central London, Oxford is easy to reach from all major airports:
- Gatwick
- Heathrow
- Luton
- Stansted

To the north, it is just over an hour from:
- Birmingham International Airport

From all the above-mentioned airports, frequent road and rail networks lead to the heart of Oxford. Both the Oxford Bus Company and Oxford Tube operate fast and frequent services linking London and Oxford, with the Oxford Bus Company Airline service linking Heathrow and Gatwick airports direct to the city.
There are a host of direct trains from London Paddington, which connect Oxford by train with direct links to Birmingham and the north as well.
